Pool Maintenance Tips

Did you know that the sun hastens the dissipation of chlorine, so the best time to add sanitiser is in the evening. If your sanitiser is added automatically (eg in a salt pool) while the pump is on, run it at night if you can, for best efficiency?

Having lots of swimmers at any given time will introduce more pollutants like body oils, perspiration, suntan lotion and so on, and you need to compensate by adding more chlorine. Encouraging pool users to shower first has merit, but welcome to the real world!

Heavy rain will usually make the water in your swimming pool lose its clarity (start to turn green, or lose its transparency).

Our Approach

  1. approachAfter your initial contact with Award Pools (by telephone or via the Internet), a consultant will phone you to make an appointment at the proposed pool site.
  2. At this initial consultation, they will assess the site and you can express your special needs.
  3. Many facets of possible pool designs will be discussed.
  4. Back at the office, your representative will prepare a taylor-made design for your swimming pool and surrounds - consulting with other members of the Award Pools team where needed.
  5. A full-colour sketch of the proposed improvements to your site would be presented to you prior to proceeding.
  6. After any adjustments are made, a contract is exchanged.
  7. A supervisor for your pool is appointed, and he will liaise with you and all contractors on site. The pool is then built: at this stage it's best to stop praying for rain, because bad weather is usually the only cause for any construction delays.
  8. After the pool is finished and all financials are complete, a representative from Award Pools will "handover" the pool to you and ensure that you are skilled up for its proper ongoing care.
